介绍：1940年发现的第一个锌酶，也是最重要的锌酶。现已报道有80多种锌酶，居各类金属的首位。碳酸酐酶是红细胞的主要蛋白质成分之一，在红细胞中的地位仅次于血红蛋白。含一条卷曲的蛋白质链和一个锌（Ⅱ）离子。锌离子处于变形四面体的配位环境。催化的最重要的反应是二氧化碳（碳酸酐）可逆的水合作用，使它在生理pH值条件（pH值≌7）下很快进行。为催化H2CO3CO2＋H2O反应的酶,酶加速二氧化碳水合的因子在10^7左右。
