用途：用于多肽缩合剂和交联剂，该品是水溶性碳二亚胺，主要用作多肽、蛋白质、核苷酸合成中的脱水剂，可实现快速多肽缩合反应的水溶性碳二亚胺型缩合剂。
EDC.HCl是水溶性碳二亚胺，分子呈线性结构，用于羧基与伯胺的缩合反应，并已获得广泛的用途。如在多肽合成中形成酰胺健、将半抗原结合于载体蛋白形成免疫抗原、通过与核酸5'位的磷酸基团反应形成氨基反应活性的NHS-酯等。EDC 通过与氨基反应形成可与氨基反应的O-酰基脲中间体。如果该中间体不与氨基反应，则会很快水解并重新释放出羧基基团。在N-羟基硫代琥珀酰亚胺(Sulfo-NHS)存在的情况下，EDC.HCl可以将羧基转变为氨基反应活性的Sulfo-NHS酯。这步反应通过将EDC.HCl、含羧基分子以及Sulfo-NHS混合即可实现。
