溶于水，不溶于醇。稍有风化性。60℃时开始失水，加热至70℃失去结晶水,100℃成无水物。溶于5份水，溶于丙酮，不溶于乙醇和乙醚、醋酸乙酯、液氨。其溶液在光线及空气中易变质，不与热酸和浓酸混合或将溶液置于日光下，以防产生氰化氢。在溶液中含约0.2%碳酸钾，可稳定数月。低毒，半数致死量(大鼠，经口）1600-3200mg/kg。
